Volume/LUN configuration for UNIX/AIX/Solaris hosts

Just wondering how people handle UNIX/AIX/Solaris hosts which have a lot of small LUNS.

Generally for VMware/Windows and ISCSI i have been doing 1 volume with 1 lun

For some reason the customer has UNIX/AIX/Solaris and they have a heap of small
LUNs some of the servers have 20+ LUNs (from 50gb to 300gb in size)

Would you just create 1 volume for the server and stick 20 LUNS in that volume

or

Would you split it up to 1 volume for 1 LUN ?

At this point of time there is no need for any replication

depends on what the luns are used for, i guess. For databases, i'd definitely split luns for databases and logs into different volumes, both for performance and recovery scenarios and because "debug logging" could suddenly fill the volume and take all the luns offline if things are overprovisioned
