#Max amount of volume in FAS8300 in metrocluster configuration

Greetings, I made some calculations as I have a FAS8300 HA pair and we do use trident which means we do have already quite some NFS volumes.

If my calculation are right, a FAS8300 HA pair supports a maximum of 2000 volumes.

Let's say I have two FAS8300 HA pairs and want to use metro cluster to sync two aggregates across the MC.
How many volumes could I get maximum on the aggregate? I understand there is also a limit per aggregate which is divided by two in a MC scenario. I come up with 250 max volumes in MC scenario. I really hope that I am wrong, can you please help me?

HWU confirms those numbers

these are not hard limits though. we have customers with more volumes in MetroCluster and they are fine, even during switchover

Hmm thanks guys, these limits are very low, I wonder how much past the official numbers we can go. I was reading that if we hit the limit, no more volume can be created

Apparently Trident support qtree, and with qtree it's maybe possible to have up to 10000 NFS "folders" in a single FlexVol. That's really cool if it works, as it help overcome the limitations

yeah, for Trident the nas-economy backend type is really good

The issue with going beyond the supported numbers is that support will point at that if you have any perf/etc issues. If you only need to exceed the numbers by a reasonable amount, an FPVR would be the way to go.
