Hi,
I am reasonably sure it is possible to deploy Cloud Insights in offline mode for secure / sark sites. However I cannot find documentation to confirm. Appreciate if anyone here can confirm if I am on the right track.

Also, can an online instance of Cloud Insights be deployed to manage multiple tenants within a single deployment?

It’s not possible to run CI offline in a dark site environment unfortunately. Regarding multi-tenant I would say no also. You could have multiple acquisition units pulling information from different tenants/customers, but if you want the tenants/customers to have access to CI also there’s no way to split up what they see. But a service provider could collect information about all of their customers and then keep that info to themselves and/or possible generate reports for their customers.

I came across the following text in CI docs.

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/cloudinsights/reporting_predefined_reports.html#navigating-to-pre-defined-reports
"Cloud Insights accommodates multiple tenancy in reporting by enabling you to associate users with business units. With this feature, administrators can separate data or reports according to the attributes of a user or his/her affiliation."

From your explanation, this only applies for business units within the same customer. Is that correct?

Hmm... that looks like a copy and paste job from the OnCommand Insight documentation. Best to my knowledge that's not really applicable for Cloud Insights.

Above link is for OnCommand Insights.

Thanks.

Is there a process to raise this "bug" with the docs team?

I'll second that request. We're preparing to deploy CI, and the multi-business unit aspect was something we were planning to leverage.

Dividing the different assets in CI between different BU's is very much possible (this is what we call Business Entity in CI). I think the mentioning of tenant above is the cause of confusion here. If you have ONE company with multiple departments, BU's, what have you, then you can absolutely report on the different BU's. If you want to pull MULTIPLE customers into one tenant of CI then it's harder. It's possible, but you can't separate what the different customers see if the plan is to let them access CI also. However, there is a licensing model called MSP which allows, for instance, Service Providers to manage sub-tenants (their customers). This would allow each customer to have their own tenant (CI environment).
