#Ontap inside a container

Hi All,
Few years ago I've heard that here is an idea to create an ONTAP version that runs independently (not via Trident provisioner) in a container. Has there been any progress on this idea ?

given the amount of interaction with hardware, i doubt going much below the level of a vm would be so terribly useful or perform well at all
