Hello all, I have a question, I am wondering what is the easiest option to install netapp ontap on vmware esxi? I have tried ontap simulator but since the vm won't boot after a reboot I am looking for another easy way to use it that can stick around?
My use case is just for testing and development through ansible playbooks.
I wanted to test ONTAP Select deploy but it is asking for 500GB which is a lot of storage that I currently do not have nor do I need a Hardware Raid to be setup.

what ontap are you trying to install?

are you using an old evc profile and have you removed support for cpus that can do aes in hardware? had issues with that before installing the ontap sim

hello all, sorry for the delay.

My need is to deploy this locally for a testing environment, I would like to know which Netapp Ontap version that I can deploy to test the product with some ansible playbooks, where I do not need to have a lot of ram or storage resources.

I have tried ontap simulator on esxi but since it is not supposed to be ported on vmware esxi, after a reboot I have lost the VM, I would like to know what other alternative I can use that I will not have to redeploy if the VM was to be accidentally shutdown.

ontap select would be an option, but I don't know if that is available as a test/free version. it's been a very long time since i've used/looked at select
