I've done a simple search and not found anything, so I'm wondering why none of the Kioxia firmware will update via the E-series System Manager. It simply says "Not Attemped"

Hi @candid sedge, have you opened a case for this issue yet? I think Support would be best suited to help with this scenario.
In the meantime, I'd be curious to know which drive model, what the current DFW version is, and what the DFW version you are attempting to upgrade to is.

The KB docs say that a SSD Cache may not be upgraded online but the GUI says they are upgradeable online/offline ...
i have both the KPM5* and KPM6* models... the disks that need fw upgrades are just down one version
i haven't opened a case yet as I though I'd try an offline upgrade... and then see if the "appliance" software upgrade upgraded the fw for these... not much info on that that i have found yet

FWIW, offline update works fine, but it requires putting the client node in maintenace mode, so a 30 second job turns into a 45 minute job with StorageGrid, for example
There probably should be a bit more noise/info about the fixes for ECD-15743 and ECD-16131 in 11.70.5P1 ... seeing a lot better response times, but the increased wear on the SSD's without the firmware fixes will probably rear its head at some point
