i guess i'd jump into the system console and watch the boot... perhaps not all of the cabling was correctly attached after the hardware replacement...

#

there is no system console, because power is off

#

"system power" is literally dealing with power

#

cables etc all play no role at this stage, if you cant turn power on

Of course open a support ticket, as you will probably need a motherboard replacement. But also might pull the motherboard, remove the DIMM you replaced, and try again.

we replaced the dimm with another one, reseated everything including PSUs
but we have only limited support for that thing. as we just purchased keystone, and will power
this down after migration. Stupid situation, but here we are - i would not frequent a public forum otherwise

#

I am ex netapp PSE myself btw, and now i have been put in a rather bad situation by the powers to be

#

if the 2nd nodepair goes down now, then we will read about it in international news.

#

tnx for getting back to me though. moboswap... i will see if the HW support guys can do that.

#

but i think that is not in their scope

How did you determine that the initial issue was a DIMM fault?

#

Can't open the attached message.txt btw.

This is not an A700 though, it looks more like an A700s

As silly as it sounds:
Please make ABSOLUTELY sure that all input power is high voltage (200-240) as that platform will not work on 100-120v)

#

Sort of that make sure all components are seated properly

Deff an A700s.

iron vortex
#

it could very well be 1266753 very simalier, but support is required as it's most likely a board replacement.

My comment still stands (the walking/talking hwu). Just verified against the online version and we are both saying the same thing. The a700 and a700s both require high line (200-240v) power

# inner quarry well, definitely open a support case for that then... NetApp will usually provid...

i dont make the call. management said it was much more than just a couple of thausand, and paying that for equippment we are migrating away from right now
is in our current financial situation not an option. So i have been told. Personally i am not happy about it, but i dont call the shots around here... i just keep the lights on here, and try to keep the powers to be convinced, that ntap is still better than the weird alternatives they read about in their management equivalent of a tiktok 🙂

run it without the dimm if that's the problem... see if it boots

inner quarry
#

No idea about the 700s, but if it's anything like the other machines, it will check the RAM size during boot and refuse to boot (or immediately shut down after booting)

#

but yeah, for trying to get into the loader it might be sufficient

i remember a time when we hacked an old 37xx with intel cpus from a server and kingston ram to make it the next larger model... was just a test cluster

good old days, life was easier back then

#

meanwhile i have put the concerned SVMs into a SVM-DR relationship just in case the worst happenes

To the extent that the 3210 and 3240 use different types of 1GB DIMMs and it complains
