We have a few FAS2720 with the 4 x RJ45 ports installed. I can see that this is just a mezzanine card which can be removed/replaced.
The card also have the CF-card installed...
Have anyone tried to replace the mezzanine card to the other type?
I cannot find any FRU part number for this so this may be because it cannot be done?
Yet I cannot see why not?
We are of cause talking systems with no service 🙂 But we have one system running semi-production where the service-processor is dead and the controller has to be fixed... but we might as well just replace it, but the ports needs to be changed as described...

Not supported.
I know it's not supported... question is, if it will work? 😉
since you cannot order the mezz cards by themselves, you will need a second controller that has the correct card installed to make the swap. and if you have a second controller with the right mezz card, you can just use that one instead of swapping the card?
I see your point 🙂 I guess I am just curious if it is possible... so I will test it later this week and let you know 😉
I'm pretty certain you can just replace the mezz card. It's just a simple PCIe card after all 🤷♂️
there's no FRU because it's not supported post install. As I mentioned in the other thread, the FRUs for the controllers reflect which set of ports it has, so I suspect it isn't possible, but if it's unsupported use, feel free to FAFO and tell us what happens (and keep all the pieces if it breaks)
Works and have done so in the past. Where you get it from is a whole different question.
