Hey all, I need help understanding why san lifs dont migrate when port failed like nas lifs can.
Been searching a lot couldn't quite get it

I know that san works with alua for choosing path, but WHY cant the lifs migrate

They are bound to a port on a node, you can move them by bringing them down and then changing the home-node of the LIF though.

I got it.
San lifs are bound to a port since they use wwpn, what got me confused is the fact that i knew multiple lifs could sit on the same port with different wwpns, then i remembered npiv which allows one n-port to have multiple virtual wwpn but they would still be attached to that port and wont be able to migrate.
