Hello, as specified in VMware documentation it is possible to integrate specific Storage vendors with VMware Cloud Director solution with Vmware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension. Official Documentation link: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Director-Object-Storage-Extension/index.html From provided website we can see that Amazon native S3 platforms or any S3 Complient object storage platform with OSIS is supported. My question is does anyone have information if NetApp Ontap AFF 250 could be integrated and in which way ?

Yes! ONTAP has support S3 since ONTAP 9.8. I don't know the VMware product well enough (that feel weird to say) to know which S3 apis are needed. ONTAP S3 is fully S3 complient so will work but does not have the fully API set (no one besides AWS really does as many of the APIs are very AWS specfic) but ONTAP has full support for puts/gets and in later versions, Object versioning, simple lifecycle policies and now in ONTAP 9.14.1 Object Lock.

Thank you for your reply regarding S3 support. This still leave for customer a risk of testing NetApp Ontap S3 with VMware Object Storage Extension, instead of just buying and using .

Hi team! Just got back from Explore. What a great event! To answer your question, VCD integration for object storage is now possible with StorageGRID. VCD has supported vVols for storage automation for a long time, now ONTAP tools 10 adds high availability and secure multi-tenancy making vVols a great solution. However, keep in mind, that OTV itself does not directly integrate with VCD, rather it uses the standard VASA APIs for storage management. You can create your own automation that consumes ONTAP tool's value-add features using anything that supports standard REST API methods.
