I am trying to find specific information on how to use Snapshots, and SnapMirror to backup and recover or DR NVME namespaces on near-line storage DR arrays. I would think that although I can take standard ONTAP volume snapshots, and SM-DR/BC mirrors, I would not be able to serve the namespace from a nearline storage array in my DR site. But there is no documentation pertinent.
Has anyone dealt with this issue? Or can someone at NetApp provide some guidance on how I can set up backups? We use D2D SM DR/BC for remote backups exclusively for traditional spinning and SSD storage. How do I handle NVME?

I'm a bit confused. Are you worried about serving NVMe namespaces off of non NVMe media? The 2 are not linked at all. ONTAP systems do and can use back end NVMe drives but those are not a requirement for front end NVMeoF or NVMe/TCP front end protocol. That would be like saying we needed FC attached drives to support FC. You can simply serve NVMe namespaces off od SAS connected media
@copper dome @crystal heath Keith, thanks for the response. But I am a little confused, because I can't configure NVME/TCP off of non-NVME storage. Or are you saying I can configure the SVM for NVME, and still use my nearlines or SSD's?
