Do you have a system with active entitlements?

Yes, it is. But it's not currently available.

#

Do you know how to put a disk into a failed state? I can't do it, I get an error after entering the command.

#

We have the same problem as written in the article, but we don't know the best way to change the disk.

Open a non-technical case and ask for your account to be associated with your filer so you can get access to the KB site.

#

How long has the disk been in testing?

#

If you have the serial # I can take a look at ASUPs if you're sending them.

The disk has been in this condition for about a week.

If it's a larger disk that may not be surprising.

#

(like 8 TB, 10 TB)

#

I wouldn't recommend it but there is a "disk maint abort" from node shell, so you'd need the channel path:
Cluster::> node run -node <node> disk maint abort 0a.00.02

#

If it is in testing you can leave it because it may take a while.

#

But do a "disk maint status -v" from the node shell.

#

See if it is actually failed.

The disk is 1.8tb, it looks like a testing failure.
It also has a large number of errors in the logs.

The disk is seen as Failed by the system, but is shown in maintenance where it should be tested, but no testing occurs.
fas-av::> system node run -node fas-av-01 -command "sysconfig -a"
NetApp Release 9.9.1P6: Tue Dec 21 08:41:12 EST 2021

At the same time sysconfig -r shows:
Local maintenance disks

RAID Disk Device HA SHELF BAY CHAN Pool Type RPM Used (MB/blks) Phys (MB/blks)

testing FC_switch_B_1:8.126L506 2c 22 5 FC:A 0 SAS 10000 1713523/3509295616 1716957/3516328368

The disk is displayed in maintenance:
fas-av::> disk show -maintenance

Disk Outage Reason HA Shelf Bay Chan Pool Type RPM Size Size

The disk fail command does not work:
Error: command failed: Failed to fail the disk. Reason: Disk is not a file system disk.

What about disk maint show -v from node shell?

#

It looks like the ASUPs haven't worked since May of 2022 on that cluster, so it's hard for me to take a look.

#

Oh nvm.

#

I'd recommend opening a ticket because this might be a HW issue anyway.

Thanks, I'll follow the command later.
