This doesn't answer your ansible question, but I have a feature request into SG engineering to allow us to trigger firmware upgrades from the admin nodes. I envision being able to upload a drive firmware bundle to the grid admin node and let the admin node figure it out.

Good shout Ed, that would be a move in the right direction but as you say being able to kick it off from ansible would be great.
