Hi,
Since a while, we've been seeing the "Nblade.cifsMaxWatchesPerTree" error in the Event Log. Customers are also complaining about access denied errors, which should be related to this event.
Following KB article "https://kb.netapp.com/onprem/ontap/da/NAS/What_are_the_CIFS_values_to_mitigate_client_malfunction", we found out the SVM in question was still only allowing 100 "max-watches-set-per-tree" (cifs options). This was the default before ONTAP 9.3. As the KB advises, we increased it to 500 which is the new default value.
However, we still noticing the "Nblade.cifsMaxWatchesPerTree" errors in the Event Log. Do we need to restart the CIFS server for this option to have effect? Or is it instantaneous?
I would think it's per CIFS session, but new sessions have been set up after the option was changed and the error is still popping up.
