#Headswap 2620 to FAS2720

Yep that one of the offical methosed to upgrade storage. It is a hard down obviously. no way to do an ARL on it. -
https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-systems-upgrade/upgrade/upgrade-considerations.html
There is some subtility in the procedure as it mentions you can move the storage to a shelf under the new controller but does not mention the ability to move on a 1 to 1 basis . The diea being to do a power down of the FAS2620 system , move the drives to the new FAS2720 cable the other shelves chnage ownership of disks and boot new controàllers .
Are you planning to get a FAS2720 or do you already have it?
I am plannng to get new FAS 2720 heads to replace existing FAS2620 while keeping disk assets
I think the reason why OG1 asked is because the new FAS2820 will support upgrading existing FAS2620 and FAS2720 systems within the same chassis, by simply swapping out the controllers. If you haven't yet bought the FAS2720, it might be worthwhile to wait a little bit and get the FAS2820 since it will make the upgrade quite a bit easier (and you get the newer, more powerful machine)
When do you expect the FAS2820 to be quotable ?
Last I heard is end-of-month but maybe beginning July.
I have been trying to configure this in UCPQ but can't seem to find the proper workflow to get a quote. The controller upgrade without storage does not work so do you guys know how to quote this ?
Well, upgrade to the 2820 instead. Then it is literally a controller swap (with a few other steps of course). Netapp may have removed the 2720 since it’s being replaced very soon
The issue is that I can't find the workflow to quote the controller swap /upgrade . Hence i am asking how to do it . The UCPQ process "the controller upgrade without storage" does not work so which other process can I follow to configure this upgrade.
Your probably best to contact the partner support folks or quote folks.
We have all seen the announcement that this can be done in the presentations but there does not seem to be anyone knowing how to effectively get it done including the SSR's .
Have you tried Quote Edge?
can't you just quote two FAS2820 controllers as single items, and the cables you need? I don't think there's much more to the upgrade kit
