#High level process behind AFF to ASA in place conversion

I've found a document that says that conversion isn't a supported operation, so I suspect there isn't anything we can help you with regarding this.
Interesting, i started this conversation after seeing this update from 9.9.1 https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-whatsnew/ontap991fo_san_enhancements.html
Mm yes. I'd reach out to your account team for more information then - that option may not presently be available.
the document I found saying it is unsupported is from a couple of weeks ago - and that one is 2021, so I would have to suggest the later one is more likely to reflect our status
Fine , Thanks .
that doc even says "should be removed". I guess you just set the ASA-flag and see what breaks afterwards, and clean that up. But it's better to do that with NetApp support, especially with production data
I am not quite sure of where the flag is even
Don't do it. It's not supported and it's a one-way conversion. You cannot remove it after it is set.
could you elaborate on that? The documentation linked above clearly makes it look as if a one way conversion (AFF->ASA) is supported?
if that's no longer true, the documentation should be updated I guess?
TR-4080 from April 2023 also states that conversion is supported
Documentation updates are coming for that very thing.
I don't own those, but I know that they are actively being worked on.
cool 👍
