Hi Team.

I'd like to use ONTAP System Manager (ONTAP 9.11.1) to configure CIFS as a workgroup without using Active-Directory, but I don't know how.

I referenced the link to https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/task_nas_provision_windows_smb.html#add-or-modify-shares , but it doesn't show how to make it workgroup..

Also, I wonder how to create a user account with the command::>cifs users-and-groups local-user create.

ONTAP System Manager - Storage Tab - I can confirm that I can add an account on the Share tab, but it is not created with the message below!

Error: command failed: Failed to resolve the security identifier (SID) for the account named "blahblah". Reason: Object name either does not exist or could not be resolved using the available servers. Check the event log for additional information

Please Let me know .. . . . .

Oh my gosh, the customer wants to run their own storage and add and write Local-User whenever they need it, so can I create Local-User only through CLI?

This is possible via System Manager: Go to Storage --> Storage VMs --> click on your SVM --> Settings --> Host Users and Groups --> Windows

#

Here you can create users and groups

#

Once created add them to your shares with your access permissions.
