IHAC who has a snapshot policy to keep one DAILY snapshot, but is snapmirroring that snapshot, so two snapshots need to exist until the transfer completes. They are finding that the snapshots on the source aren't being deleted and are having to manually delete them. I assume it is because the snapshot rotation process tries and fails to delete the snapmirror locked snapshot and doesn't retry once the snapmirror lock moves to the next snapshot.

I've advised them to keep two DAILY snapshots and enable snapshot autodelete, but can anyone confirm if the snapshot rotation process is smart enough to retry deletions that failed due to snapmirror locks?

We have issues like this, and even though our snapshot policy has a count of "1", there are always two snapshots kept on the source. It does automatically delete anything older than two days though.

I assume your Snapmirror policy type is "vault", correct? So, you should be using XDP (as opposed to the older DP)?
