#Storage vMotioned all VM's from one NFS datastore to the other, what can I do to the ONTAP SnapShots

We have successfully storage vMotioned all VM's from one NFS datastore to the other. However, all snapshots taken by using NetApp ONTAP snapshotting still left behind in the old datastore.

  1. Are there anyway to move/copy these snapshots to the new datastore as well? Or
  2. we just have to wait until these snapshots get expired?

Couple of questions - do you want or need (which) to keep snapshots and why were you moving VMs in the first place?

Yes, we need to keep all snapshots. We need to change the NFS IP for the datastore by moving VM's to a new Datastore with a new IP.

There is no way to move snapshots from vol to vol without any downtime for the workload (in your scenario, not in general). You could have tried by using snapmirror, SVM-DR, ... but that would involve shutting down your VMs running on the datastore before going online with the new datastore.
But if you would be able to have short downtime you could also just remount the datastore with a new IP anyway.

Simply let the snapshots expire on their own. If you can use cross-volume dedup you can regain much of the space.
