I take a backup of my VMware datastores every night using SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere.
I keep backups 7 day on my local storage (for immediate restore) and I configured a replication using SnapVault. I keep my SnapVaulted backups for 30 days on the secondary storage.
I appears that SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere only cleanup secondary backup once a week. I checked on the Job Monitor and I only have a "Cleanup secondary backup" job every 7 days.
When a VMware user try to restore an old backup of a VM, the restore job failed.
The backup is still present in SnapCenter Plug-in interface but the snapshot does not exist anymore on the ONTAP appliance.
When this happens, the restore task keeps stuck and never fail. SnapCenter Plug-in reports an error but vCenter not. This task is indefinitly stuck in a running state (until I reboot the vCenter appliance).
Does anyone has the same issue?
Is there a way to solve that? Maybe clean the secondary backup list every day or after every backup?
At least send the failed event from the SnapCenter Plug-in to the vCenter?
Thanks in advance for your advices.
vSphere version: 7.0.3
SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere version: 4.7 (I upgraded my plug-in to 4.8 but I did not test to restore an 30+ days backup as I don't want to have a stuck running task in my vCenter 😅 )
