I want to create a test alert for monitoring tests. is there a way to do that? I have a separate test instance - so shooting some things off is not the problem.

Hey @near lark it sounds like you're using the software only version of StorageGrid to do some testing on alerting. I would suggest you take a look at https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/storagegrid-116/monitor/alerts-reference.html - this summarises all the different alert types we have. So assuming you have setup the email notifications for ALL severity types of alerts. Then have a look through that list, and see which one you can reproduce, potentially an virtual interface being disabled or something along those lines.

Also when you are setting up email notifications for the Alerts, I believe there is a "Test Email Alert" option which will send a test email notification https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/storagegrid-116/monitor/email-alert-notifications.html
