#Is there a way to schedule Snapmirror throttling?

My customer currently throttles its Snapmirrors from its remote sites using the "options replication.throttle.outgoing.max_kbs 15625" option. Unfortunately, because of this, one of the sites is getting behind on replication, so they would like to increase the throttle outside of normal business hours. Is there any way within OnTap to schedule this change?

I think I ran into this at my old job and we had to setup a scheduled PowerShell script to change it every night and back every morning, but I was curious if anyone had any better options to deal with this?

Nope there's not a feature to do that.

#

You'll have to script it like before.

We also used to use DFM back in the day, but again like you said can be achieved with Powershell etc.

Those options commands are immediately effective. Anything used in the snapmirror relationship only takes place at the next update.

I had a customer set the outgoing throttle at the source. Slowed everything down including local.

Had them undo that change and apply to the incoming at the destination. That helped a lot.

They still had one volume that was huge and seemingly never would catch up. It was an encrypted sql backup. They stopped replicating that and it made a world of difference

Script with ssh to modify as needed. Like I said that one is immediately effective

Has nothing to do with any internal vol moves. Those are usually best effort based and will give up resources do as to not affect client I/o

#

Lots affect vol moves. Same source/destination. Multiple moves from the same source and/or destination, type of disks, etc

Hmm.
Flash pool to flash pool of same make / size, but definitely getting very competitive speeds out of a simple hdd aggr now (4x).
Mostly curious is all.

I still am drawing a blank what that is. 😄

Vol moves!

Non disruptive vol moves lol

Oh jeez no one uses that abbreviation.

#

No wonder.

#

I just say vol move.

#

In one of the recent releases vol moves got tied to the options replication.throttle* options if you do a diag level command. Let me find the KB I wrote on it.
