Any particular gotchas with downgrading or upgrading a new ha pair with SED drives to the correct cluster ontap version out of the box, better to unprotect disks first? Had read something about being careful with option 4 for repurposing etc.

Check to see if there are keys ->
::>storage encryption disk show
Set to zero ->
::*>storage encryption disk modify -disk * -fips-key-id 0x0

::>storage encryption disk modify -disk * -data-key-id 0x0

#

if it was wiped without unlocking. support call is needed.

We dont have the system yet but I am envisaging a downgrade when we get them, just not sure what state they are in out of the box, guessing the keys will be st to 0x0 based on the above

oh, easier then. if it's net new. nothing to worry about. it'll be 0x0

#

use boot opt 7 on the new system on each node to do the ontap image install.

I presume no issues with adp and these drives?

SED drives in general? no.
ADP version and partition sizes for specific plaform models and ONTAP versions can be found on HWU.

if you want to ADP/unADP boot option 9/a/b/c
