@fringe vault - are you checking for duplicate file / directory names?
I figured it out. I wasn’t including directories with zero files.

SPOILER ALERT
I've got experience with other languages, but not much with Python. Just completed Day 1 with 23 lines.
Total number of elves: 242
Elf 31 has the most calories with 66306
The top three Elves have a combined 195292 calories.
^ Not a spoiler
I created a leaderboard here if others want to join in: 1859505-82a1aca4
I was wanting to use this as a chance to learn Rust, but my ramp to learning it is much slower than the speed of AoC. 😁
Easier for me to create the solutions in Python and then go back and translate to Rust.
Day 1 was easy, but it took me a while because I had to learn the built-ins for lists, since I used those.
Looks like Day 2 should go quicker
Yeah, if you're using a language that does well with lists, stacks, queues, sets, and (now trees, or maps)... then you're in good shape.
Day 2 complete
Probably not going to start on Day 8 until later this afternoon. Busy with work items today.
Advent of Code 2022
I brute forced Day 8 part 1.. took me three hours and I started at midnight.💀
Brute forcing leaves for a brute forced part 2 as well. Do not be me.
I was an over achiever on Day 2 and calculated everything. Maybe I should try to not do that.
