I'm using a similar setup, DS4246 attached to a Dell R630 (SolidFire OEM) through a LSI SAS-2 HBA. It works fine. Linux didn't like the SAS HBA for some reason and kept crashing/freezing during boot, so I switched to FreeBSD with ZFS, which works fine. Multipathing will have to be set up manually though (via a script, for example) for each disk, since FreeBSD doesn't autodetect multipath for SAS drives for some weird reason.
I know the newer TrueNAS versions run on Linux, so if your SAS card works fine in Linux you shouldn't have any trouble with such a config
