My other half has had this set for probably 3 years (maybe more) and hasn’t built it yet 😕
I may have to do it myself
nice! that's a great set and the lights are awesome.
i have so many sets that aren't built yet 😬
The AT AT did finally get started.
(most are gifts from my mom too).
The envy is real! Awesome!
I love LEGOS!
This was the xmas donation pile this year
ATAT Legs vs Lab
First ever Star Wars UCS Kits -
Super Star Destroyer -
Ooooo the star destroy remind me of the one we used to have in our building back on the day
Dammmmn these are epic!
They're probably my fav. I kinda like that they're "low res"
Home ownership is a hobby, right? RIGHT??????
Can you open the door if the interweb is down? 🙈
hoping the door locks are not connect to the interweb, cause then sometime in the future people will star changing the door lock combination and locking your out of your house and holding it for ransom.
Hence the physical key slot. I wouldn't buy one of those unless it had a physical key "override".
I like that you posted this under hobbies
It’s my classic car in the garage.
I finished this one, so many little pieces on this one.
that's an amazing MOC
Wow nice one. Whenever I see people posting these epic lego scenes, I am jealous that folks actually have space to place these large lego sets. Apartment living here in Singapore often means space is a rare item.
One day I will have a large room to have all the star wars lego sets on display or something like that!
I bought a little 4 level thing to hold the one I’m working on. Not sure if they will all fit but right now that we’re most are going to go
Awesome stuff! A good mate of mine, literally doesn't have a dining room table anymore as he's stolen it place all his lego scenes 😄
Together with my best friend I played the 2018 ryder-cup golf course. Next year this will be the Olympic golf venue. #bucketlist⛳🏌️♂️
I build cars and trucks as a hobby.
One of my hobbies is photography. This is a shot from Istanbul from the start of the month
Camera / Lens / f / iso / etc ?
That's impressive for an iphone!
the meta deta for the photo.
We have any retro fans out there?
I watch 8 bit guy do computer restorations and curiousmarc computer archeology.
I've sold a lot of my stuff, but I still got my MiSTeR, mega SG, super NT, and analogue pocket
Curiousmarc is awesome. I did some googling on where he got his resources from.. he made $44M selling his company to Intel, and I think it was the tech which became lightpath/thunderbolt.
8bit guy does some very interesting stuff, but kinda went off his channel when there was this Apple IIe which went around various YouTubers.. and he gutted it and stuck in a rPI. I thought that was pretty rude
Oof.
I didn't see that.
Why would you gut an Appl IIe? Your supposed to restore old computers.
Not put in a pi.
Anyone can do that. Relatively speaking.
Anyone else here do vinyl or audio stuffs?
my collection
my office system (better than main room)
Yep! Nothing super fancy though - Audio Technica turn table, Tube Depot amp, Fosi tube pre-amp - KEF speakers.
been collecting since I was... 15?
my audio area also doubles as our bar -
the bar looks great 🤩
Can confirm - Mike's bar is actually great.
Confirmation in hand... had to find the pic!
We have a classic menu and then rotate out seasonal ones - spring/summer and Fall/winter
Classic -
Fall/Winter
We had a large xmas party last year and I did a custome one -
Summer 2023 -
Very Professional, I like that! At my House you could choose between around 25 different Whiskys and 20 Rums, but they are only served pure and without ice
we do that too, maybe I should make a list of my un-common bottles for tasting menus.
I do do tasting flight of Whistel Pig using the 6, 10, 12, 15 and 18 bottles.
I have learned though that darker rums sub in to bourbon / whiskey cocktails very nicely.
Over the break I finished this Lego set and added some leds
I finished my ATAT and apparently forgot to post it here.
nice!
Anyone doing meshtastic? Maybe something fun for the next insight meetup
I ran this pi-star at insight '23
how long does that t-beam run on a 18650?
Like over a day
I'll try to get setup before insight.
Heck yeah
looks like it can run 433mhz in the US if you're a licensed ham
915mhz is where everyone is I’ve seen so far
are you watching 433 also?
From this weekends rally, 2nd round of the Swedish Rally Championship, in the forrest around Sandviken, abour 2h drive north from Stockholm 🙂
I'm not the driver, just the photographer...
Great pic!
WRC 4 Life! 🤘
What's your Camera setup @elder snow ?
@wary epoch This was taken with a Canon EOS 90D and EF 70-200/2,8L IS USM
greetings from finland
Can you guess the hobby?
i can provide more pictures if it is too hard 🙂
drone flights in ukraine? 🙂
that i would not discuss in public 🙂 but i do follow thegeopolitics on occation. need a hint?
this is my house from top... (umm, yes.. i use a drone for that)
just saw the map above your screens 🙂
My guess would be HAM radio, judging by your callsign on the photo and the radio setup on the left desk 😄
we have a winner. here in Finland they don't know we exist (only once per year when we pay our license fees)
but the hobby evolved, it's still fun even when our radios no longer work with steam engines 😉
@slow gazelle ^
I prepared for the license some years ago but was never good enough at morse so I ditched it. I am still toying with the idea of getting a license now and then, especially since these days morse skills are no longer a hard requirement
Same here, finally got licensed around 10 yrs ago.
I got my no-code Tech license when I was 13 and a few years later when the code requirement was dropped entirely, I went right to the top. Not active on the air though, which is something I'll change one day.
time for a NetApp Net.
a Net is a Ham term for a radio based meeting of old people to discuss doctor appointments, upcoming procedures and occasionally hurricanes.
And when the next hamfest is
hamfest sounds yummy. just sayin'
A previous NetApp CEO is a Ham. Just sayin.
That would be Hitz, if I’m not mistaken. I believe he and I discussed that at length at one point
Morse code is not s requirement anymore since ages though still fun
yes, we compare blood pressure values and determine the winner each week, got a problem with that? hi
i earned my bp with honest work in the it (incl decades@ntap)
wasnt tom georgens a ham too?
Tom was at hamvention im Dayton.
W4PA stopped me at the Vibroplex booth to tell me because I was wearing my NetApp shirt.
Old Compaq Proliant Server - County of Sonoma Surplus
Anyone in the Bay Area want a relic for their museum?
I do woodworking for a hobby. Hung a door on our ensuite. Biggest available doors didn’t fit, so I made an extension and stuck it onto the side. In my part of Australia, houses are usually made of brick, so I needed a SDS drill to put the rail in, and also the little alignment peg in the floor for the track of the door
Literally USD$4000 worth of tools to do this 😅 glad they got some use at least! (Sawstop and Festool Domino were a big part of that price, but they’re “buy once, cry once” tools)
isn't that the point of home projects? excuses to by more power tools?
for my deck we ended up with a nice new 12" miter saw
and a home made water level. which was kinda cool.
What did you get? Those weird Bosch ones look cool
Get precision and accuracy for tough jobs with this Sliding Compound Miter Saw. This miter saw is designed with an advanced 15 Amp, 3,800 rpm motor that delivers power and durability. Tall sliding fences support 7-1/2 in. of crown nested and up to 2x14 dimensional lumbers at 90° and 2x10 at 45°. A cam lock miter handle with detent override deliv...
Ah yes. Nice
GIFs you can hear
Any scuba diver hunter!
Starting to get all my Legos set up again in my new house
That solar system set is awesome, especially lit. A friend has it
I made this bookcase recently? 😄
Oh and this temu Rivendell 😅
some of these chinese Lego clones are of a very good quality really
They really are 😎
We have the Black Pearl from Mould King, quality is almost as good as Lego ... Manuals are sometimes not completely clear which colour is meant, but you get used to that
Mould King has become a lot better recently. I remember some 3-4 years ago their parts quality was quite bad. As you said it's almost up to par with Lego now
Who has aurora pics to share?
I have clouds. lots of clouds 😦
Me too ☁️
We had Clouds, too ... But that was the best collection of Pictures I found https://twitter.com/itsjackcohen/status/1789290289246490912
As part of the sticker for Lego set 76925, there a NetApp Logo (https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/aston-martin-safety-car-amr23-76925).
I was looking for a different set of pics and found a youtube build video where the guy complained about the color not being the right Aston Martin Green. whomp whomp
I really hate that Lego still does almost everything as stickers, while the cheap Chinese clones often have printed parts 😦
oh interesting. I'd often seen the reverse. Theory goes that the price of custom printed parts vs sticker parts is what almost sunk lego a few years ago..
for some models they go the extra mile. The LL928 Galaxy Explorer re-issue for example had quite a few custom printed elements. And it was even reasonably priced (probably because there was no license involved). However, models like the Star Wars UCS models (most recently the A-Wing and Y-Wing) still heavily feature stickers. The A-Wing for example has a sticker that you have to put on the (round) canopy. And because that's almost impossible to do they actually included the sticker twice, because they knew you'd mess up the first time.
@minor brook Were you on the radio over the weekend during ARRL Field Day?
I’m almost 2/3 of the way done setting up the back of my office to show off the Lego collections. Since it starting to look complete decided to share.
That’s cool! It’s time to make some changes in my office but I don’t know what I want to do yet.
i got a pretty good deal on the display case (Home depo was having a sale and got them at 250 each https://www.homedepot.com/p/Black-Wood-31-5-in-W-Display-Cabinet-with-Tempered-Glass-Doors-Drawers-Adjustable-Shelves-LED-Lights-KF020375-01-c/328131451 look like they raised the price to 270 but.
I switched out the LED's with multi color ones that i can change with a remote
It's very Fufu. :p
This will be an interesting case to watch over the coming months and years. It stands to change the 3d printing market and likely hinder innovation in this space for the next decade. https://www.tomshardware.com/3d-printing/weve-always-respected-intellectual-property-bambu-lab-responds-to-3d-printer-patent-lawsuit
I made this charging stand the other day. Matches nicely with the bookcase I made a few months ago, and the ~120 year old table from my great great grandparents house
Yeah, certainly gave me some pause on hitting buy on the X1c, but they’ve recently released some new firmware which enables 100% offline use, slicing etc
So.. their Nero option contingencies are in place
Nice!
Print a bezel 😁
a coworker of mine has the same one. It's a pretty awesome machine
I’ve honestly tried looking for the 3DMF/STL files and can’t find them
First things first... you'll want to print a p00p chute for all the p00p that the X1C puts out. Especially if you're doing multi color prints.
Well. Needless to say I have one of the more expensive hobbies. Well. A few of them.
How’s the power bill?
Honestly? My power bill is about $250 a month during the winter, $350 during summer. But Texas is also year round pricey on electricity.
If I didn’t have the rack running.. I’d average about $180ish during winter, $280ish during summer
The biggest power draw is that ancient ancient SuperMicro 12 Bay NAS. It still works… but it’s so old it’s DDR2
The two R620s & the R820 use the same amount of draw that SuperMicro does.
The IPMI interface for it only runs on Java 6. Which is an adventure of getting to work again if I do any updates lol
not bad, about the same for me in IL at least for the summer. ( I crank my AC + have an EV).
I'd be terrified of my power bill if there weren't 30 solar panels on the roof. Thankfully I can stockpile net-metering credits for 1/2 the year that cover most of the summer extremes.
Solar is the next big project for the house for sure. Gotta lower those bills somehow lol
my solar will be installed in 2 weeks... although we don't have that much sun (compared to @runic solar in Las Vegas)... but I hope to lower my bill from 4500kWh to hopefully less than 2000kWh (no AC, no EV)
Bit rainy today here in Perth. If I had a battery and could use it to load shift I’d still be neutral..
I have a battery now 😅
This really makes me want to buy that set
For the retro enthusiasts out there, this was just announced:

Since I've been unsuccessfully trying to get a real A1200 for a fair price for years, this will probably be the closest I can get to this awesome computer of the 90s...
The Legendary ’90s Home Computer is Back.
Available for Pre-order 10 November 2025

Step into a time when floppy disks ruled, pixels popped and imagination had no limits. THEA1200 brings back the spirit of the early ’90s as an astonishingly accurate, full-sized recreation of one of the most loved ho...
**looks at his original gameboy
**looks at his original NES and Sega Genesis (the actual ones from my childhood)
my mom sold mine at a yard sale when i was in college. I still haven't forgiven her.
I've got my NES and Sega Genesis here in a box too. The PSU has a bad place in the connector, so I just need a new cord, but otherwise, it's all working
RetroPi is nice though
I have lots of old consoles that I collected during the early 2000s when they were dirt cheap on eBay. NES, SuperNES, GameCube, Dreamcast, Original XBox, NeoGeo Portable, Master System. The Dreamcast is by far my favorite though, it was so ahead of its time, too bad it was killed by piracy
Soul Reaver 2 on Dreamcast still lives rent free in my head
I have a lot of retro consoles, and a full size mame cab, but my psp collection is epic.
