Completed the longest tutorial of my life... in hopes to play with my friend. For some reason co op is impossible to play even given your ip and using 7777?

Also, I need help with 'longest tutorial of your life'.
There's no part of the game you need to complete before beginning coop. So we want to make sure you're in the right version of the game.

Could also be that you need to use logmein hamachi to setup a network, using ip & port 7777 works for me coz i'm playing locally with fiancee, havent tried playing multiplayer with anyone outside our local network

Hamchi, tailscale, radmin, and zerotier are all viable opt if you can't set up port forwarding (or don't want to)
