The sun giant tonight hit me with 5 instakills in a row. It looked like the thing where it makes 'bad ground' that you need to run out of quickly as winds will start to swirl. No winds, though, just 'give up' button.

It might have been the 'stomp' mechanic, but I wasn't near it at all. I fight it w/ a combo of ranged when I can get a crit hit - VERY rarely; I suck at aiming - & lobbing fireballs to slowly whittle away at it.

Anyway, I did give up - the fight entirely. If that's some new and intended mechanic, then I'll give up the game entirely. The threshold on that one fight was already insanely high (I've literally taken 30 minutes to kill it before), with no gating or warning 'hey don't try this until you have the absolute min-maxedest gear possible because it is designed for ONLY the 3li+3s+ pl4y3z!!!!'

But... if it's not normal, then what is going on with it? Anyone know?

It's really designed for more than one person to challenge it

I went in with another player. They gave up before I did. This has happened before.

And it's rare that I find more than 1 other person running vaults at ANY time of day or night. I've never been in a full group since the relaunch.

Sadly, none of us could really tell you if it's necessarily normal since everything relies on each individual person to a point.
I can tell you that my first time in the watch (super not geared for it), doing the Giant, and getting lucky with 4 other people, took us about 15 minutes to kill him, of which yes, we did go down a few times, but never instantly.

To be fair, my "luck" in the Watch to most isn't normal either haha because many people mention that there's "no one in the Watch to party with" 😅

Yes, the content for public vaults in online mode is meant for more than 1-2 people, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
Yes, gearscore and weapon choice matter, but that doesn't mean it's meant for min-maxing or caring all that much, more like just put on what you got depending on how far you are and hope for the best.

Instant death doesn't sound normal, but I have no idea what condition your gear was in.
Was it repaired?
I have no idea what your gear score is, or all the stats that materials apply.
Do you have HP regen, or max HP? Did you go pure damage? If you chose damage over HP on items, then I'd say dying that fast would be normal, you have nothing to help you health wise lol you chose to go glass cannon mode.

But you absolutely should be able to repeat.

My best advice if you should choose to take it - Skip the bosses. If you're not having fun, if you're not feeling that your build is strong enough, whatever the reason, just farm the vaults and essence bundles, return to the Watch, buy what you need until you're comfortable in your build or find more people to go in with you (maybe make a LFG topic) and to assist in Revives.

Many times have I been solo, died, respawned at the top of the drop down, and just kept going.
But... I'm stubborn haha
