You'll be prompted every time to choose online or offline if you don't select "remember my choice" box

#

So as you're wanting to move your character to offline you'll hit offline every time

shrewd jolt
#

what i mean is, I can get the character to show up.. i click "resume" .. and it sends me BACK to that choice screen, character never gets me in the game.

#

it's like it errors, and forces me back.

Oh!
Uhh hmm... you said you rearranged folders, was there a reason?
I don't remember that part in the steps aside from copying one folder to the other

shrewd jolt
#

I rearranged, becuase it didn't list the character at all the first time. so i looked, and the folder seemed a bit off. it was like there was an issue with folder structure.

I know there was an issue initially that the steam ID folder wasn't showing up for people so they didn't know where to put the files.

I wonder if there's something similar 🤔

Sadly I'm not at home to run through the steps to see if I can figure it out, but if you can't get it to work before then I'll for sure post my steps if I can get it to work when I get off work.

To restore your Offline character from a backup:
For version 0.5.0 and later:

doing this step..
i've got this locally: C:\Users\Shagz\AppData\Local\NWX\Saved\Offline\76561198015246292
and this in zip:
C:\Users\Shagz\Downloads\6I0UEO2AQ_offline_mode.zip\Offline

I copy/replace.. to the local one.
Start the game, pick offline mode.
My character shows up.
I click "Resume", or "go to respite"..

It says "Loading" for half a second, then back to the online/offline choice.

#

And yes, i'm aware, it shows my steamID in the post, lol.. but it's so easy to find, it doesn't really matter. lol

#

and just now, .. I even tried to copy it to the other (maybe errent?) offline folder.. wich also had a deploy/profiles folder in it.
C:\Users\Shagz\AppData\Local\NWX\Saved\Offline\76561198015246292\Offline

still same result.

At the end of the day, if it's not possible, then it is, what it is. me and wife have already started over. in online mode., but since the lack of players, it's tough to get groups for the watch, wich means mats are all but impossible.

Hmm well it is possible quite a few people have done it for faster load times..

I just can't see why it wouldn't be working, looks like you're doing everything right 🤔🤔

As for the watch, personally I find better luck it seems in a weird, what i call a "RNG window" 😂 like 7PM cst, empty but 9pm CST great. Past 12am cst, dead (Weekends are much better to try)

#

But yeah, I guess for right now it's being funky I'll for sure make a note to try when I get off work and hopefully it helps 🫂🫂

Thanks Katari, lol. I remember you from Discord back in closed beta,.. if i dind't have the answer, you usually did. lol

And if I didn't I'd find it 💪💪
Haha.

No worries I hope we can get this solved in case others find themselves in the same boat!

Okay so!

These were the steps I followed and it worked flawlessly.

Steps followed:
Downloaded profile from their website
Extracted the Zip to desktop temporarily.
Did the run command %localappdata%\nwx\Saved\Offline
Opened the folder with my steam ID
Dragged the items from the desktop file, to the opened steam ID folder (Deploy and Profiles)
Selected "Yes, replace files in folder"
Opened the game
Swapped around settings to bring back the popup for offline mode, and chose it
Character there
Moment of truth!
Clicked resume . . . Loading . . . character loaded in and standing where I logged off last night.

Only thing that changed in my Steam ID folder was "Deploy" seems to have updated to todays date.
But, I noticed in your screen shot, inside your steam folder you have an "offline" folder, for some reason I do not.

When I do the run command, in the "offline" folder I have 4 files:
Steam ID
Deploy
Profiles
steam_autocloud

When I click into my Steam ID folder, it's simply "deploy" and "profiles"

So that extra file you have in your folder might be bugging it out

kk, i'll clean it up then try again

shrewd jolt
#

Still nothing. Deleted all the folders and started from scratch, still nothing. only guess i can make at this point, is that my character was too old, and didn't have the necessary "upgrade" on the character file (me and wife had "beaten" the game long before the offline mode was even a concept, and had put the game on hold waiting for more content).

modest ocean

for example

shrewd jolt
#

I was attempting to get my old char, for use in offline. from the "archived" section

modest ocean
#

OH!!!!!!!!!

#

that's why!

#

Okay, so archived is pre 0.5 which means it's on a different branch of the game

#

I'm so freaking sorry, I thought you were trying to move your current online character to offline.

Not that you were wanting the legacy account

#

Because it's "old data" that doesn't work with "new data" it's listed in a different version of the game

shrewd jolt
#

so basically i need to roll back the game to the older version?

modest ocean
#

Pretty much?
So Steam and Epic do that for you, once you click which one you want.
It'll auto "update" to set your game to that version so it can be played. (set to pre 0.5)

When you want to go back, just get out of the old version by doing the same steps, and it will update to the current version and your post 0.5 profile will be there

shrewd jolt
#

ah ok, not really worth it then. My new online char is more weak, but it is near endgame. just need to figure out a way to get groups for the watch, wich gives that T5 fiber.

Yeah it's really just about when to go, I went about 20 minutes ago and there was like 10 people hanging out running vaults.
Guess it's prime time when people get off work?
