I wanted to know and have a quick place to reference sconces but this can be A guide to all lighting solutions.
First thing when it comes to lighting will be whether the lighting is providing A yellow light or white light. It does not appear that either flame or electric is exclusive to one color or the other.

do they have different ranges to provide the well lit buff to crafting stations?

Crafting stations, works before the update. Seems to me they forget something/bug.

At night they seem to REALLY brighten themselves I don't think anyone has mentioned it
