For those of you not experiencing this issue, I’m very happy for you and you can keep on scrolling, but for those who have experienced this issue, including the thousands who have refunded because of it (concurrent players have gone from 45,500* to 11,000* in the couple weeks since release, a 77% decrease) I can confidently say this will be the cause of this games failure. The game has many amazing features, a cool system with the portals and biomes, and a promising future, but not with these errors being an issue still to this day. Now the mods will say this network error is different from the one that caused many to quit or be unable to play during alpha tests and claim they can’t speak on it because of an NDA, but then have no info or knowledge of this “new” network error that started when the game moved into EA. It leads to the question, how do you know if they are different if you don’t know anything about what’s causing it or how to fix it? If they had a fix or an idea of a fix they would 9/10 be asking for more info from us, but instead they just say “we are working on it” with no details as they’ve said for weeks (or months if you include alpha tests) with no fix in sight and seemingly more and more people experiencing the problem. Through hundreds of posts and working with others who are more knowledgeable of code than I am, we have figured out where the error is coming from, as an SSL handshake is having problems during connection through portals or teleporting. Even with giving them this information, they state nothing, not even if it’s helpful or not. A game losing 77% of its players base in two weeks is alarming and indicative of bigger problems. A few of us have been very patient and dedicated as we see the potential with this game, but as time forges on it feels neglected, or worse. People complain constantly about this issue every single day in this discord and rarely get responses, but guess what it is when they do get responses? You got it, “we are working on it.” Yeah well good luck with that.
#Network Error is ruining the game and this studios reputation.

Question, what would you expect the mods who aren't associated with the company and are simply players helping the discord to the best of anyone's ability, who can or can not relay NDA information, do to in this case?
Network errors give codes at the bottom right, perhaps those codes don't match ones seen before?
While I sympathize, I don't think us mods are the best target? When all we've done is try to provide at least something while nothing is being said.
Edit to clarify.
While I've watched you guys try to narrow down the situation, it's seeming that maybe the thing narrowed down, isn't actually the overall problem? If you've said it's a handshake error, and have passed on the information, perhaps that contributes, but maybe there's more behind the scenes.
For an example: It's been mentioned the devs aren't talking (and I agree, it's not enough from what they have said) but I've seen replies in different threads about "fixes" that work for some for at least a little bit.
Or someone mentioned that shadow PC's have been noted to not be supported.
I’m using the term mods loosely, but while you’re here @alpine river the better question is what do you want us the players to do? These errors have gotten nothing but worse, it’s almost exclusively mentioned in refund reviews, and us asking for communication and still after weeks receiving none while being unable to play.
I’ve been a part of many early access games and this is the first time I’ve seen many not even able to access the game and it this lasting this long with zero communication
Even people who haven’t had the issue prior are reporting it since the patch and giving up after only a few days
And then you have people saying it’s a minor issue and few are experiencing it. Its quite amusing tbh
Personally, as I've done with other games. I'd either A. Refund as many have, or B. Uninstall until there's more information to fix my issue.
I could give examples of plenty of games, while upset, I put down because of issues with, what ever the issue was at the time.
I'd be just as upset, as I have been in the past. I'm not going to tout the "it's early access" argument, because that only goes so far, and I'm 99% sure you and others are past that point.
As for the new reports, those IMO would probably go away since it's due to a new security measure set in place to stop people losing their hundreds of hours worth of work.
I personally didn't see it as a "forever" fix. I can find the exact quote as to why that's increased if that helps. As with most issues, I can only link to dev answers, or "solutions" users have figured out themselves.
And referencing your edit about “it may or may not help” why tf you think we are asking for communication? They could EASILY say hey that was helpful or you are looking in the wrong place and ASK US what they need from us instead of making us play where’s Waldo for them
As to that reply, I simply think it's a case of they don't know, and might not want to admit.
For all I know on their end it looks 100% and no issues. And they simply have no answer, which is why they choose to remain quiet. (Which IMO, I'd rather them be like "we don't know we need more info")
I’ve never been in an early access where the devs are radio silent and THAT is a huge part of the issue
Like we’ve all concluded, they know what the issue is and don’t know how to fix it, and know it’s on their end but know if they say that many will refund or quit until it’s resolved, and with no ETA that could kill their game. At this point nothing else even makes sense
I gifted this game to four people and all four of them refunded due to this issue. (Edit for clarity, two are in California, one is in PA, and one is in Europe, all had the same issue)
That’s just sad
While I think this is a critical time for them, and they're not... Doing the best, so to speak. I've seen many games come back from horrible releases.
My rose colored glasses for the game, I will admit gives me hope that it's possible for this game to be in the same situation. (in the future)
I know it's a horrible example because, well any people who know this company can speak on it, but Wildcard is notorious for going radio silent on their testers and players. But the game, or rather, the idea of what could be done with it (that and they finally had a decent modding community a few years into EA) gave people hope to the point they just accept "wildcard will be wildcard".
I HOPE to gods that it's not a repeat "Inflexion will be Inflexion" but I do have a feeling, that the two huge bugs hitting within the same week, probably took away attention on things that might have deserved it. But that's just a theory.
Either way, this was kind of my shipping message. Haven’t been on in a few days due to lack of motivation from this issue, since everyone I played with or wanted to play with gave up and refunded. You know I’ve said it many times, that this game has insane potential, but I’m burnt, I can’t take these errors anymore. Gonna shelf it until it’s resolved.
Hopefully they see this, and all the new reports, and it lights fires under their butt. There's only so much someone can take, and at the very least, I hope for yours and many other's sake, the next time it's mentioned it's not just "connection errors" and actual details.
