#Automaton Bishops won't send out the blue swirl for me to offer anything.

This is driving me crazy. I've tried multiple different Bishops across multiple different realms, but I can't get any of them to send out the blue swirl so I can offer the Ritual Seed Nursery.

  1. Yes, I have the nursery in my inventory

  2. No, I do not have a companion

  3. I am approaching them in a non-hostile manner, to the point where I'm only holding my umbrella

I've already killed one for the Charm Oil, so that's not the issue. I'm just trying to get the "Gift for a Gardener" tracker to go away.

Don't you have to be Holding the offering?

When I made mine, it was able to be put on the toolbar like a weapon. It looked like I was holding a wooden box. That was before they botched the update and erased my realm. SO I never got to find the Bishop. I know they only spawn on 3 different realm levels.

Hmm, ok. Good to know. Didn't even think to hold it in my hands. I'll try that this evening.

We found that if the bishop had been fighting something else and left the sparkly mines behind it basically was stuck in combat and wouldn't interact. We ran through the mines to explode and despawn them then it worked.

i never had mine in hand and was able to do the offreing...it may have been figting something esel that made it hostle

I'm running into the same issue. Walked up to the bishop with the offering in my hand and he just ignored me entirely. Though I do think he was recently in combat. So I guess the hunt continues for the already rare creature to be even more rarely not in combat.

Unless someone knows where to find them more easily? I mostly run into Knights, and have only seen maybe 3-4 Bishops total.

I've already got the oil from killing a couple, but can't complete Dr F's mission just yet because of it.

Okay, I figured it out. I had success in the Desert Provisioner realm.

I just wanna say because I don’t think anyone has mentioned and a lot don’t know this, but the knight and bishop look very similar, although they have different faces and the bishop has one cloth whereas the knight has two. The knight is ALWAYS hostile whereas the bishop always starts friendly.

Correct. I knew I was approaching the Bishop, personally. I just think it was a weird glitch or bug in the other Realms.

Yeah if it’s definitely a bishop and you haven’t been hostile to him or his little bots then it’s likely a bug or your follower is sneaking in hits lol

For anyone else having this problem, I was trying everything described in this thread and the bishop either ignored me or attacked me every time I got close. In the end I started doing something else with a bishop close by, but not too close. Eventually he came to me (thought he was going to attack again) so it seems you have to keep your distance and wait for the offering/sequence to trigger.
Didn't seem to matter if I was holding the offering or not. I wasn't when it triggered.

I think you have to approach without any weapons drawn, and the bishop needs to not have been fighting something

Did you double check with spyglass if you are approching a Bishop and not a Knight:)?
