Hi, I started the game and build my first base with a few buildings inside pretty far away from everything. Does it make sense to rebuild more in the middle of the important places?
Or will things change / advance anyway? Travelling so far is a bit boring.

Traveling is fast, so it doesn't really matter.

depends what type of player you are. if you're a creative mind that doesn't mind evolving your base with your progression, then yeah. if you're like me and have the creative ability of a dead goldfish, then no lol. I'd put it close to water somewhat central or close to the transmuter location since you're still early game and may not have transmuter unlocked

You generally wind up re-building once you unlock the settler apogean card so you can mass farm building materials for a next tier structure/material

You will unlock stuff that makes the distance to the portal and realmic transmuter not matter, but you'll have to do some realm exploring to unlock it which means running to the portal in the meantime
