I mean, I know the hard start of NMS, but look at where they are now! I don't think an endless amount is needed, or galaxies for that matter.. I'd just be so cool to not be limited to pre-set worlds... or maybe a bunch of pre-set worlds which are entirely different? Like Borderlands 3? I know system capabilities is the hugest deal breaker, but I personally don't think Nightingale should be low spec, maybe medium spec? (Imagines User generated Realms in my dreams)

This has already been addressed: the realms will be procedurally generated and therefore are technically infinite. They are influenced by special cards that you can place in the portal to lock in certain features such as weather, biome, time of day, creatures present, etc, but once you close a portal behind you that realm is gone for good. If you open another with the same cards it'll match the criteria from the cards, but will be a different realms entirely.
