@steel ether theres no best 3D software because all of them excel at different things though if you want to start learning 3D modelling then I can recommend Blender. Its free and its decent at everything 3D softwares can do.

@bleak pond in that case, with a "modern" look i would imagine a lot of sleek looks combined with typical patterns associated with miltarism.
What i mean by this is that leather/latex would work, as it has a tight, smooth "modern" feeling to it, along with bits of metal (such as studs). regarding war, it's possible to give her come camo patterns and boots/cleats. Hair cut short would work well with all of the above, i think.
you can choose how revealing to make all of this, but it should work either way

as much i understand the subnautica style its alien surprice, like u watch a knuddle pet, morph into somethng uggly if it attacks u, just imagine a small pet wich gets bigger if u touch it, until it wraps around u... never totaly deathly allways gives u a few seconds to struggle free, but if u dont do anything it eats u, or imagine a under water room full of little tiny cells, like bubbles, if u swim inside them and touch one, they start to glue on ur surface woke up by the heat of ur body , until ur to heavy to move and swim, in the early stage u can swim back and remove them, lots of ideas for some beautyfull nasty things in game.
