Cyclops would be accessible just outside any of the exits, which aren't far at all. And as you can see, there's plenty of space for a large base, as well as more expansions if I wanted.

Well actually if your going survival wise the Lava Zone is a good place to set up a base even if it is just a micro base.Because then you can place down a bunch of thermal reactors to charge up power cells,you have access to pretty much any material necessary excluding a few,and access to an ion cube generator,another base (Survival wise) location that would be good is the crash zone due to all of the scrap metal.I set up a small micro base in the Crash Zone which had just a room filled with storage and a nuclear reactor,a hallway with a hatch on the side,and a scanner room which scans for scrap metal.
Visually though Jelly Shrooms i would reccomend

@eager surge For the late game I found it very useful to have a base in between the surface and the inactive lava zone, it meant I didn't have to shuttle things back and forth through the Lost River, which can be quite a long and perilous journey, not to mention tricky in the Cyclops.
Also, for less practical reasons, it's a game where you can build cool bases, so one may be inspired to build cool bases.
