the reaper's body structure is kinda weird though.
like it's ripped, it's got a ton of muscle tone. but it's also got non sensical fat roles around its arms and subtly on the bottom of its neck

I'm a little tired of seeing the "because video games" response. subnautica is a sicence fiction game, as in there's a science behind the fiction. it would defy the genra to just accept that something doesn't make sense. we got the data bank for extra information if players are interested. the reaper's scan notes are kinda disappointing in that aspect, they are more just observation. even though you have to do a bioscan of the thing to get the data bank entry.

Actually, is updating data bank information a thing?
Because if its not, it would add tons of layers, for more information to be found on the creatures as we actually observe them.
Because, big scary only muscle is fine for an inital observation, but learning more about the habitat and how it actually catches prey. Noting how well it actually camoflauges in the water, ect. Without its big roar, the Reaper almost seems like an ambush predator. Or perhaps, it used to be one, until it evolved to the relative top of the food chain.

on the flip side though, there are certainly things in subnautica that defy explanation, and it is pretty much to do with the precursors. it also needs to be playable as a video game. so things like day/night cycle, and depth I feel were tweaked from a gameplay standpoint. So yes there are some things that are acceptable, but the fact that it's a game shouldn't become an excuse to be lazy. (not that the subnautica develpers are lazy)
I do believe that gameplay is the most important aspect, but the small things like the databank, and how it explains how individual things in your game work can make the game all that more enjoyable

any sort of magma on land is considered lava, lava cools down as magma stays the same, if at the correct temperature underwater, it can maintain its state, otherwise it cools down fast, if lava is found underground it is magma, if its on the surface its considered lava, it will cool down and become a rock, magma is stationary and it wont cool down unless exposed to air, which it cools down, so what your seeing in the Activa Magma Zone/ Inactive Magmazone is a water exposure to the planet core, since the planet is water, it also had land, which land was made by lava, which was before magma, which was before nothing but a burning planet
