Not sure which piece Shaunās referring to there, since thereās a few things I think he could be talking about.
Recently I've been really hating 4 characters, and I see all 4 of these characters ruining the game at some point (again) din the future.
Eva, brall, jin, and beebo.
Eva will peob come soonest at 1.0, the other 3 i see coming soon after. Their movement is wildly unfun and being literally infinite cced by beebo or hit by a fast car going lightspeed is wildly unfun.
And jin removing the most skill expression part of the game by just existing is really dumb imo... no hunter should just remove the skill expression of a mechanic, I think it's poor design personally.

I'm hoping she isn't immortal of your team doesn't have anti heal. Having to avoid every Eva team as much as possible just cus you didn't go an anti heak comp feels like bs. She needs to be dealt with by 1.0 and the other 3 have just been making the game unfun for me for a while but cus you still gotta be decent at them they won't be issues at 1.0. Idk if anything will change, cus it doesn't seem like you guys care about how unfun it is to get ran circles around by someone who is literally 2 hp and not being able to catch them cus they got a bullshit amount of mobility.
Wanted to give my input on elluna as others recommended me to do so here.
Since the april patch elluna has felt very rough to play, she has a 0% pickrate in competitive and also feels very underwhelming in ranked games to me personally.
To list a couple of ellunas issues:

Her entire kit thrives off of chaos, the change to trios has eliminated a large part of this, meaning both of ellunas playstyles, the supportive and the assasin, have become much harder to pull off. It is much harder to find a backline root, especially when that enemy team has a OATH. At the same time i cannot state enough just how much harder resurrecting teammates has become, once you have a downed teammate, you only have 1 singular teammate peeling your resurrect, a 1v3 is much more difficult than a 2v4, especially with the heal on knock feature the enemies profit off of.

Her manapool has issues, a while ago on the last squads patch she received less manageneration on her lmbs, it was cut in half and it is very noticeable when playing, if i cast all my spells i will end up out of mana very often, especially when i play around dash resets on my teammates (It would be a cool thing if dash refunded mana per teammate you dash through possibly, so this mechanic can be used with more skill expression rather than a pure manadrain.

Many of the current popular characters make ellunas life a living hell (Carbine, Oath, Eva).

On the trios patch dash haste was moved to Quickblades, this is another change that greatly reduced ellunas strengh, since manablade is a forced item on elluna i now have to choose between Dash-haste or normal CDR.

I have great trouble keeping myself alive, a while ago zephs self healing was increased to 75%, that character and eva are able to heal themselves to full consistantly, yet my heal feels unimpactful and restores around 15% of my max hp only.

I had a friend play some elluna in ranked recently and they thought they were fine, but if they played elluna in comp at all I guarantee they'd be asking for buffs. She works in the current ranked cus you don't really gotta be a good character, as ranked becomes more competitive elluna will prob be 3rd worse hunter to pick, barely beating no buffed jin and hudson.
Also im personally against buffing her healing. No hunter should live cus they have a bs amount of healing, I get hers wouldn't be too get even with a buff but I like how she doesn't just live with healing while zeph and eva are basically immortal(also... why did they even buff zeph's self healing, I can't be the only one who thinks it was a dumb buff)
I thought she was fine in squads even when she was considered weak, but in trios easily 3rd weakest, and in comp prob 2nd weakest.

I don't get why tc couldn't give ghost the icon abov his head when he throws his nade. Cus isn't that meant to make it clear that someone is using an ability and if you get hit by it you're kinda just dead, but supposedly ghost doesn't need it he's an exception ig.
It's near impossible to see the animation and that is kind of what you have to react to and it's prwtty stupid.
Also, remove 40% cd reduction on wall nades. Ghost has literally nobreason to be able to spam wall nades that are already strong as fuck like that.

This holds stupidly true. People seem to think it's fine with them being massively team reliant. But it makes them feel kind of annoying when you aren't playing with a premade. And tc doesn't seem to care enough to do anything about it, or they think it's fine that Hudson can't do much by himself; which goes against their supposed ideology of self sufficiency so it's weird.

I personally haven't had any issues visually reading Ghost nade, I just watch his model for when it's starting to come out. I find the sound effect very telling.
But it's good that there's feedback about it bc if it's affecting someone, it's probably affecting more someones

It's probably worth stating that these changes would likely improve his teamplay ability too (ex. especially anything with Wires.)

No new storm shifts for 1.0; they're fun, but they can lose their novelty fast and making good ones aren't trivial. We've updated some of the iconography, and we'd like to update the minimap/megamap too to make communicating these and POIs better over time. Could see us coming back to the pool to update, but not yet.

Yeah, what you and Kuba are describing are a lot of what can get finicky with interiors and elevation. The fantasy is cool enoug that we're going to continue experimenting in the space, though. Just won't push anything until we have an idea of how to better solve.

This would make it central on the map and allow you to split in a direction of ur choosing to get the mob of your choice. Currently it only spawns edge of map in scavenger bay and i cant make it to Chaos Steps in time for the mob i want š¦ (Heart shop spawn also fits its nature theme imo!)

Game is doomed just from anti heal being the way it is. Not fun to use not fun to play against and 80+% of playerbase wont give a damn if its changed to % based and power is shifted elsewhere. Doesnt seem to be a place holder to for example nerf of buff movement tools around the map etc since that happens anyway
Game lacks massive amounts of depth and skill ceiling and its still hard for new players because the depth is basically just endless options that u cant decide on when they are consistantly the right option to go with. Goodluck advicing a new players to take one power everygame while its very possible its good one game and shit in the next. Now consider all powers through that scope (through the eyes of a new player maybe) with ones more or less usefull in whatever way ( this essentially just doesnt matter because its not providing enough fun or anything to compensate for how it screws with the balance of the way people learn to play, people are lost and overwhelmed the moment they open a vault and see 10 different powers with different rarities, functions, strengths, and god forbid that they get ganked during the processing of it). If tc wants to maintain a higher amount of varying powers my personal suggestion would be to start seasons with lets say a low amount of powers maybe even 10, and through the season build up to a season limit. Maybe there are permanent powers that are there every season, maybe the harder to balance ones like wings are chance or we based. That way u can target casuals as u guys like and tryhards who want to have consistancy. But u are not alianating new players by being forced to throw 10000 possible combinations at them. And my idea is just one of many approaches regarding this. And this is just one arguement for whh this many powers is bad of the multiple i can think off with the upside strongly overshadowed as of right now. Dont wanna elaborate more cos too much text
And less need for such extreme account limitations which is just abysmal to have to consider gojng about it like that even if it is a good option id still prefer a diff good option over it

So I actually read this entire thing, and overall I agree with the statement that powers feel overwhelming for beginners, especially after talking to a various amount of them, however the main issue for a majority of new players is the lack / the feeling that there is to little room for improvement when every game feels coinflippy ( of course to us, who have more experience it does not feel coinflippy what so ever, atleast ranked ), its mainly the way the game gets perceived and that endangers the player count of this game, the heavy weight of how coinflippy this game can feel for a beginner, a majority of this feeling is also originating from horrid matchmaking, like imma keep it a stack, getting matched against goldies as a legend feels horrid. I dislike playing against them cause it feels like I am farming them. However, matchmaking has to stay like this if 1.0 wont increase player count.

If academy is good by default 8/10 games then it just means it turns into a brainrot decision people get used to and dont think about. Wether u can or not doesnt marter when the reality is the average player isnt incentivized enough or simple doesnt care and plays for fun so they default the easiest and strongest decision. That when nerfed turns into more delayed improvement stacking with things like powers
When u view the big picture of this games issues it becomes clear why its so overwhelming its not one thing or another its layers on layers

I mean I can see how teaching macro in this game can be frustrating, especially when you have parts of the map like coldfang, academy, Prisma Falls, Wraiths Row that all feel like they try and convince you theyre good drops but 90% of the time theyre heavy coinflip.

its a heavy missconception that these drops are safe, they always put you out in the open, not only that, Prisma and Wraiths Row both are usually easily contested, causing heavy fights early on.
-> which in long term is problematic to a matches lifespan, especially in low elo where stuff is way less coordinated, if I compared it to e.g. scrims or ppl that know each other in legend, its gonna be insanely long games.
Ion Acres, is not only contested but usually puts you in one of the worse conditions in the game, especially if Veingrove is contested, you are very like to not hit level 7 + again youre very out in the open.
Yes these three drops heavily encourage agressive play and PVP, but its unhealthy for a game like this where a majority of complaints I got from newer players is that the games feel short and coinflippy.
Regarding Coldfang, acadamy and dawn caps ( another one I forgot )
-> These three heavily encourage bad macro, a lot of times people dont know how to map out a gameplan after dropping in either of these three positions, that up until High Master.
--> Sure tthere is usually something to gain here, but the rotation from either dawn caps or coldfang to uncontested camps in other areas is basically not present, also reaching level 7 again is very hard in a majority of said areas, besides academy, where you can camp hollows for ghost, but if you drop academy youre usually level 7 either way sooo thats a big who cares. ( for a majority of players )
its simply that a big part of supervive as is right not encourages dirty macro / bad macro and the powers should become more focused (imo) on fixing macro issues, like grappling, blinkstone, glider jet.
Part of the troubles any of these macro depth related things brings can be fixed by having fundamentals in place. It makes more sense if i could explain fully but while not needing to mimic a regular moba, considering some thought patterns in how they could help achieve easier to learn and teach macro is liquid gold. The explanation id like to give covers why its good for supervive to take this kind of ā big swingā versus its br competitors immediatly seperating itself more from direct competition while remaining close to the game it was regardless. This game is in a unique position within the game industry but it lacks the right approach in the right areas. Things like resurgance tackles an issue but doesnt fix it, tutorials and tips CAN tackle an issue but again the root isnt fixed, onboarding tackles an issue but the root issue is once more there. And across the game this pattern exists, in its ideas, reworks, systems, through powers, character design philosophy and close to nothing is actually fixed. Its more so shifted into different root issue thats to a very big majority of players and or devs not immediatly obvious which is confirmed by reliance on data. So im strongly of opinion that the devs could use advice regarding a big picture view of games and the experience gathered from actually playing and learning them. Rather than trying to work around issues where the root of it seems to be misunderstood even though it might not be incompetence in skill, it can simply be a lack of insight/experience/knowledge
I strongly agree, however collecting data over own experience is not necessarily a good thing, think back at riot august buffing is otps over and over again so he could climb etc.

Thats an example of something that can assist with the above mentioned proper solutions in solidifying it. Just the map on its own being changed wont be enough but yea it will feel refreshing and add to how long ppl might stay invested. But the map has like a ceiling in how much it does due to the way the game plays from top down view anyway. So unless the map design is thoughtfully designed around the games systems and gameplay, potentially the macro, movement etc i dont think its a major thing

This was random yap sesh while sleep deprived. But together with it and realizing that even at highest elos in league players to this day still strugle with applying individual tempo/team tempo correctly and consistantly among all the other skill & knowledge checks in the game. league has many items, but not every champion can easily go every item. Theres alot of rune options, but u can not go every single rune and have it be optimal. Theres 5 different lanes to play ur champion in, but not all of them are optimal. And on each part of leagues design, things are relatively easy to make sense or explain and is STILL by many misunderstood because at the end of the day the amount of things that a player CAN learn is very big. And naturally not everyone will do as they should, or change bad habits.
^ But even a player like that, who refuses to stop going yuumi attack damage mid now stuck in platinum, will by the nature of the game come to learn and at some point accept he has to change his ways and improve in order to continue ranking up. These barriers exist across leagues rank systems, its not for nothing that ppl infamously say "master is dogshit lol/ u can get to master just play what u find fun" etc. It because its true, doesnt make a master player completely trash and retrded, but it does mean that there is no full mastery or understanding of the game present, but that the base level of play which is basically taught to the player by experience and gametime in most natural cases is high enough. Which allows for that rank to further improve those things cos u actively practice versus it and for the ranks above to start slowly the higher u go experiementing and adding things on top of it AKA simply macro vs advanced macro, combining individual tempo together with team tempo, from managing wave states to managing individual minions aswell, to playing a matchup picture perfect versus better players to knowing how to find windows otherwise not possible by actually ignoring rules & fundamentals strategically etc etc.
Those things are not established automatically if u just give players in league the possibility to go 50 different items per champ, u can play ur champ in all roles without being too far from optimal, no established early/mid/lategame to supplement character balance amplifying how shit the first two things i just wrote will feel and so on. Wether listening entire vid or not, when u consider just what im writing and the fact supervive wants to target casual players with the game itself being competitive by nature its an obvious clash in what the reality is in various ways. The better your understanding of these things and how much each thing matters in relation to how much or in what way its present in your game in relation to what your trying to put out, the more easily youll be able to find and think of solutions to problems. And ull learn to understand more accurately what kind of solution does what exactly for retention/player satisfaction/ranked integrity/solo vs stack power difference/ skill/knowledge and so on. So wether me or someone else. I think if devs are educated on these things they should be able to save the game from atleast going into it being doomed. Wether theyll end up with 20/50/100/200+k playerbase, it should allow them to steer the game in a less than doomed direction because almost everyone realises the potential the game has. My thoughts:
- High number of powers is always definitively better for game longevity. More variety and strategic options create lasting engagement.
- I don't know the armory system details yet, but if it's designed to interact with powers, it creates a combinatorial effect that exponentially increases complexityāwhich is definitely good for the game's longevity.
- The beginner overwhelm problem is real, but we shouldn't tone down the game's strategic depth just to address this issue. Proper explorations could be:
A. Defer selection choices: Give "power boxes" instead of direct powers, so players can pick them up and open them later when they have time to decide.
B. Give time to read item descriptions: The current game favors constant action and movement. Reading things and pausing for strategic thinking is usually punished, but players need that breathing room.
I wanna comment on the new map before I completely forget what I wanted to say.
Jin, kp, and honestly even hudson might feel worse to play against with this much abyss. Jin is pretty clear cus he kind of says "this is my domain" when near the abyss; kp's dunk causes something similar but just isn't to as much of a degree especially cus it's actually fucking dodgable, but if a kp is hiding and randomly appears won't feel the best cus good chance it'll be pretty damn hard to react to that and you just fucked if your dash is down; hudson due to his insane ledge guarding capabilities, place wire and that person is just unable to come up onto that land without just getting cooked and if it is possibke to increase range the person just has to pray and if they try to dash onto the ground to mantle hudson's dash can just keep them off of land do they even more fucked. You might think ghost could cause the last thing but at least you can actually get onto land, but the out of vision thing ig also applies to him.
Maybe they'll be a way to tell if someone is near out of vision, which would help like crazy for every character I mentioned except jin.
Jin's kit is almost guaranteed to be some sort of problem with this much abyss. Even with the ability to tell he is near that won't fix the issues. I don't like how rn cus he feels like he ruins abyss fighting and just makes it so you aren't even allowed to interact with it, but with this much more abyss he's gonna be an even bigger problem. I personally think he's unhealthy for the game rn, but with this much more abyss I feel like it'll be ao so much worse.

Well yes we ahould tone down the game and reason why is cos the combat itself lacks depth as to why everyone is so gappy with all the powers and shit. And armory will make it so much worse, less consistancy more variables u cant predict less competitiveness in a fame that already doesnt understand competitiveness. U can disagree with me but there needs to be a balance. Maybe arguement for something like longevity ok but theres another arguement that directly invalidates that. U gotta lokk ag the big picture. Its not as in hey this will do that and that so it will simply happen, thats not how it works and less so if u have the goal of making jt competitive. rankef already sucks in many ways, party sizes suck, more rng from armory, still many powers its too much even though i could lern it all i personally cba investing time in ranked system where i can drop with advantages yet versus 3 stack party as example among other reasons as to why game wont be worth it in long run and ill likely just stick with league

I think it will 100% make casual players more happy, as they will have more options and more diversity in their builds, wacky shit is always better for games. But that isn't to say compeditive integrity is gone, the other base changes, like higher ttk, REALLY heighten the compeditive experience IMO making fights more dynamic.
So you would say in comparison to the scrims that you prob seen the quality wont drop down?

At the start it may be a bit... slower? Maybe a tad bit less organized, but, like, that's to be expected from a new system. Once they get their bearings on the flow, and how to prioritize certain relics and consumables and stuff, I think comp/scrims will 100% get back to the state its currently at, and probably go above it. There are a lot of new perks and relics that aren't the best in every build but are amazing counters or flex slots for certain areas.

I want minimum half of powers gone and for there to be armory metas so players have more consistancy. More rare powers = later in the game only = u know where to go = u know the risk u take = more consistancy = not killing build diversity = ur game is 10x as good for tryhard players and casuals are in no way harmed cos they wont even use all powers as is. bomboclat
whos gonna process all that info of armory and powers that are not consistant team to team or game to game as they get ganked by a team
Full for fun casual = its ok, but trying to make this competitive/ for ranked to really matters is like an endless war that will never be won

I played 6 matches during my little test, the first 3 were raw accounts with nothing unlocked (And you did unlock things a very healthy rate I noticed, had a few items on the third game) and everything unlocked the last 3

Game 1 I played Wu Kong, He is a very fun long duration fighter with a low DPS but constant damage. The match was a lot of getting used to the new systems and feel, while also figuring out some technical stuff, But the endgame, as in the last like 4-5 minutes of the match was some of the most dynamic gameplay I have had, with plays happening that could not be possible live.

Game 2 I played Crysta (Definitely not just cause of the skin) This match ended up being a poverty run, where I was behind most of the early game, but on Day two I was able to get myself back into it and though I was under equipped I was able to make a play, get myself equipped, be back on an even playing field, then fuck it up and lose.

Game 3 I played Felix, he felt extremely good, and the new items had a big impact on his play, did not do too well this game, had a few mistakes that cost the game early so I wasn't able to build up into the late game

Game 4 I played Jin, This was the first game we had everything unlocked, so I had one goal, go as fast as I possibly could, which I did, I was effectively constantly at the MS cap, and was able to zoom around the map, the build I was able to make wasn't necessarily the best, but it was fun as hell and unique, which is something that I can say is very specific to this new system.

Game 5 I played Bishop, This was the match where I had a goal I wanted to achieve, I set out to achieve it, and made/discovered "7 page bishop" a VERY CDR focused build that gave me near constant uptime, but not a lot of damage or tankiness, this match was honestly one of the most fun matches of SV I have ever had, and Is the high I will be chasing at launch, and we didn't even win

Game 6 I played KP, but messed up and got killed 4 minutes in lol
Overall It was a great experience and I was able to really impact the way I played through the different items I got and it changed how I approached engagements and rotations

after waking up again (got my sleep schedule shifted for an NA playtest of another game) I am still struggling to understand why these changes are considered good for the game, when it just inherently feels like grinding for the sake of being able to play the game
especially when it's shit like "this thing does 10% more damage if upgraded" I don't think that's conductive to competitive integrity of a ranked ladder
it would make sense for an extraction game but imagine if I had to get my account to like level 60 in LoL to have Trinity Force/Bloodthirster/Collector all unlocked and if I did unlock them earlier they have weaker stats than when an enemy buys the same item
Ye i think its just bad. Systems and things in supervive seperate from eachother have the potential to be gamechanging factors for its succes. But when tied together it turns into a game dooming situation. And u can ignore it cos of x y z but eventually the lasting effect of it catches up. And most of that is cos the goal of the game is inherently competitive yet the envoirement ur playing in is not at all
Saying something that people found fun is good for the game is crazy? When you take into account competitive it might seem bad, just perspective

besides that point China test had very clear and undeniable negative feedback while the mostly positive feedback comes from people on a creator program with what feels like parasocial relations to the devs specifically, that paints a very clear image in my mind

10% if upgraded type thing from armory is still ok because u know people will eventually have it. When things become meta (which there 100% should be or eles its a shitfest) u can make calculations on it and limit test to improve ur fights. But nobody is gonna minmax calculate 6 powers and all teh variables that armory brings while realizing ur own teams variables in less than a few seconds. Again it will be for the absolute elite players of which we currently dont have more than a few hand full if anything. And more of those players the game wont seem appealing to, it kinda just creates the situation we have now of insane skill gaps even ifmore people come

That is something im actually fully positive about while i dont think it does much for the competitive side or anything cos again its not tied to other things. On its own it could have allowed for a way to combat instant spikes or dunking being strong. A direct counter that brings depth to abyss combat without making abyss combat any less lethal. A noob can easily hop in something and traverse the map, yet if he umps out mid air to fight or w/e > yes
But then abyss combat gets nerfed on a map with more abyss so im like eh w/e

Id be ok with devs just being based and replying with no or yes. Or argueing with my points even if they know ill argue and say i disagree or w/e. But currently we still just in the blue almost entirely regarding many things which just feels bad. Dev talks are lackingin many areas also everything just kinda brushes the surface. And id like to see more in depth talks done with whoever it is. So we can understand on more than just 1000 hour game/build diversity etc level how the devs view their game and its success. Cos now nothing makes sense to me
