MMR system queues me with and against much higher rank players

Hello, I'm a silver 2 player with a bit more than 10 hours played at this point and I've noticed that since yesterday I only get queued with grandmasters, masters and diamond players. I thought that after getting stomped a few games my MMR would probably decrease a bit and I would go against players of similar skill level again, but so far this hasn't happened. How is this possible and is there anything I can do?

Also: there is a bonus system to get extra rank points for when you perform well against players that are much higher rank than you, so far I've gotten little to nothing from this bonus system though.

It's due to low number of people in higher ranks. Meaning if they put barrier in mmr between platinum & lower, and Diamond & higher, they will have to queue for 40+ minutes to find a game.

The game is pretty new, they want everyone to play and not make long queues.

The game is still new and will probably have set mmr for ranks soon.

Thank you for your answer, although i dont understand how that explains why my MMR is so high right now

Squads are currently unplayable for me, unranked or ranked it doesnt matter, its only diamond and master teams

Only duo's are still playable for me currently
