It's very frustrating to have it default to its standard width when I set it to be smaller than default.

Hi @mystic spade. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

I'm sorry, but the knowledge sources do not contain enough information to answer your question about whether Warp's tabs sidebar can remember a custom width setting.

What the knowledge sources do mention regarding tab layout customization is:

  • You can switch between the vertical tab layout (sidebar) and the traditional horizontal tab bar by searching for "Disable Vertical Tab Layout" in the Command Palette (CMD-P on Mac). [tabs issue]
  • There are "View options" available in the sidebar menu for further customization. [tabs issue]

However, there is no mention of a setting to persist a custom sidebar width. I'd recommend submitting a feature request on the Warp GitHub issues page if this functionality doesn't currently exist, as it sounds like a reasonable improvement to request.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:

horizontal tabs it is.

the horizontal tabs scale with the quantity of them, so if there are many they get smaller, less they get larger, etc. Similar to how they do in Chrome browser for example
