Is there a way to enable or disable Secret Redaction with a hotkey instead of going to the Privacy settings? Sometimes I need to screenshot things that have many matching values, and it would be great to disable it with a hotkey

Hi @teal yew. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

You can toggle Secret Redaction without opening Settings, but the knowledge sources only mention doing this via the Command Palette, not a dedicated single-key hotkey.

  • Secret Redaction can be enabled/disabled from Settings → Privacy → Secret redaction. [Secret redaction docs]
  • You can also toggle it by opening the Command Palette (CMD‑P) and searching for “Secret Redaction”. [Secret redaction blog]

The docs and issues don’t mention a separate, fixed keyboard shortcut you can bind directly to Secret Redaction, nor a way to assign a custom keybinding to it, so I’m not able to confirm that such a hotkey exists beyond using CMD‑P and running the toggle command.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
