Question: Changing to Agent Mode

Yes, you can lock Warp’s Universal Input into Agent Mode for your session, so you don’t have to keep switching between Terminal Mode and Agent Mode. To do this, simply:

  • Click the Agent icon in the input switcher to lock into Agent Mode.
  • Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut (CMD + I on macOS, CTRL + I on Windows/Linux) to toggle and lock Agent Mode.
  • You can also force Agent Mode by starting your input with an asterisk (*), but locking the mode is more convenient for ongoing sessions.

When locked, all your input will be treated as Agent prompts until you manually switch back to Terminal Mode. The Agent icon will remain highlighted to indicate you’re in Agent Mode. This should make your workflow smoother if you primarily use Agent Mode during your session Universal Input: Input Modes.

If you want to always start in Agent Mode, you’ll need to manually lock it each session, as there’s currently no setting to make Agent Mode the default for every new session Universal Input: Disabling Natural Language Auto-detection.
