Please add the ability to rename sessions. This is crucial for my workflow. Right now, sessions are only searchable by path, which isn't ergonomic and makes them hard to find. Just add a "name" metadata key to each session, allow searching by that as well as the path, and enable renaming with something like cmd+r on the current session or the one you're hovering over.

Hi @merry bolt. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
Warp currently supports renaming tabs, which can help with organizing your workflow. You can rename a tab by double-clicking it with your mouse. There have also been requests and discussions about making tab renaming more persistent and ergonomic, such as allowing renaming via a command or shortcut, but as of now, the primary supported method is through the UI (double-click) and not via a keyboard shortcut like cmd+r or a direct session metadata key for searching by name.
Searching sessions by name (beyond the path) and adding a dedicated "name" metadata key for sessions, as you described, is not currently implemented. The Navigation Palette (opened with Cmd+Shift+P) allows you to search sessions by path, running command, and other attributes, but not by a custom session name. There are open feature requests for more advanced session and pane naming, as well as for making these names searchable and persistent, but these features have not yet been released. The Warp team is aware of the demand for this functionality and is tracking related requests for session and pane naming improvementsSupport tab renaming / rename (name) tab, Change and persist tab name after tab created, Named / marked panes.
In summary:
- You can rename tabs by double-clicking them.
- There is no current support for renaming sessions via a shortcut or for searching sessions by a custom name.
- The Warp team is tracking these feature requests, but they are not yet available.
If this feature is crucial for your workflow, consider upvoting or commenting on the relevant GitHub issues to help prioritize its development.

@merry bolt Kapa.ai is still learning and improving, please let me know how I did by reacting below.
I don't care about renaming a tab; there is no way to go to a specific tab name either lol. I would need to use my mouse or try to read all of the tabs. Not ergonomic. Not good
