Hi @steep plover. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Warp currently counts each interaction with its AI Agent—including tool calls, context gathering, and multi-step workflows—as one or more AI requests, which consume your monthly credit quota. This means that using tools within Warp AI (such as command suggestions, file attachments, or context blocks) can quickly use up your available credits, especially for complex tasks. This is different from some other LLM wrappers (like Cursor, CodeCompanion, Windsurf, etc.), where tool calls may not count against your quota or are considered "free" within the session.

Many users have raised concerns about this model, noting that it makes Warp AI less attractive for power users or those who rely heavily on tool integrations. There are repeated requests in the Warp community for either a more generous quota, the ability to bring your own API key, or for tool calls to be excluded from the credit count—similar to what competitors offer. However, as of now, Warp's pricing and request model remains unchanged, and tool calls do consume credits from your monthly allocation or overage billingWhat counts as an AI request?.

If you need more flexibility or want to use your own LLM/API key, this is currently only available on the Enterprise plan, not on self-service plansUnlock more AI requests on Warp’s Pro plan. Many users have expressed that this limitation is a significant drawback compared to other tools.
