Hi @soft shoal. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with Warp after the recent update. Based on the knowledge sources, here are some steps and considerations that may help:
-
Agent Autonomy and Auto-Execution
Warp's Agent has configurable permissions for actions like executing commands. You can set these underSettings > AI > Agents > Permissions. For full autonomy (sometimes called "YOLO mode"), all four permissions (apply code diffs, read files, create plans, execute commands) must be set to "Always allow." There's also a "Run until completion" mode, which lets the Agent auto-approve all actions for a task—on macOS, you can trigger this withCMD + SHIFT + I. However, if these settings have changed or reset after an update, you may need to reconfigure them. Also, check your command allowlist and denylist, as denylist rules always require confirmation, even in YOLO mode. Note that "Run until completion" ignores the denylist entirely, so if you want the Agent to proceed without asking, use that feature for the current task.

Recent Update Issues
There have been reports of updates breaking core functionality, including the Agent not responding or the UI not working. In some cases, a hotfix or rolling back to a previous version resolved the issue. If you recently updated and things stopped working, you might be affected by a regression or bug introduced in the latest release. Users have reported that updating to the latest hotfix version (e.g.,v0.2025.01.08.08.02.stable_04) resolved similar issues.

- General Troubleshooting
- Try restarting Warp and your computer.
- If the Agent or command execution is still not working, check your settings as described above.
- If you continue to have issues, consider reinstalling Warp or rolling back to a previous version that worked for you.
- If you have custom shell configs (like
.zshrcor.bashrc), try running Warp with clean configs to rule out compatibility issues.

- Credit Usage
If the Agent is not executing commands as expected, it may be repeatedly prompting or failing, which could consume credits without providing value. This is a known frustration when the Agent is not functioning correctly.
If none of these steps resolve your issue, please provide:
- Your current Warp version (
Warp > About Warp) - Your OS version
- Any error messages or screenshots
- Whether the problem persists after a clean reinstall or with clean shell configs
This information will help the Warp team or community provide more targeted support.
Let me know if you need instructions for any of the steps above, or if you have more details to share!
