Based on the information in the knowledge sources, there is currently no official way to start Warp with only the dedicated hotkey window and suppress the additional (unwanted) terminal window at startup.
This is a common request among users who want Warp to behave more like iTerm’s “visor” or Quake-style terminal, where only the hotkey window appears and the app stays hidden otherwise. Multiple users have expressed the desire for Warp to either:
- Hide from the Dock and only show the hotkey window,
- Or, when clicking the Dock icon, activate the hotkey window instead of opening a new, regular terminal window.
However, as of now, Warp always opens a regular window on startup in addition to the dedicated hotkey window, and there is no built-in setting to change this behavior. Users have requested an option to start Warp in the background (with no window) and only show the hotkey window when triggered, but this feature has not yet been implemented. The Warp team is aware of this feedback and has indicated they may revisit it in the future, but there is no workaround or setting available at this time to achieve exactly what you want Hide Warp icon from the Dock when using Hotkey window.

Summary:
There is currently no way to start Warp with only the dedicated hotkey window and suppress the extra terminal window at launch. This is a known limitation and a feature that has been requested by the community, but it is not yet available.
