#more questions about token usage

Hi @spiral sluice. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
I understand you're looking to be more efficient with token usage in Warp and want more information about your usage patterns. Based on the knowledge sources, here's what I can tell you:
Warp has two separate limits that are sometimes confused: AI requests and tokens. Each AI request (when you submit a query in Agent Mode) consumes a certain number of tokens depending on the complexity and length of your query and its context.
Currently, Warp doesn't appear to provide detailed analytics about token usage patterns over time. The main way to check your current usage is through the Settings menu. You can monitor your request usage under Settings > AI > Usage Agent Mode documentation.
To reduce token usage, you can try these strategies:
- Be more concise in your queries
- Use AI features selectively for complex tasks only
- Provide only the most relevant context when asking questions
- Be mindful of attaching large files or code blocks, as these consume more tokens
If you're consistently hitting token limits, there are a few options:
- Upgrade to a higher tier plan if you haven't already
- Contact support at [email protected] if you've hit your monthly token limit and need it lifted for a specific use case
- Some users have created multiple accounts as a workaround for heavy AI usage
There is a feature request in the works to make token usage more visible in the interface. One user suggested exposing the AI request count directly on the prompt panel rather than just in settings, which would help users be more aware of their usage Github Issue.
