#truncated content from Agent mode

I've been LOVING the agent mode, but whenever I ask it to build me out a JSON dashboard (for grafana) or any other semi large file it seems to be truncated. I've purchased the Team version on the highest subscription so I don't think this is a limitation ... and it's not just in specific grafana or other related files, it's any large file. By the time it tries to "fix" all the missing bits the files are no longer functional. I didn't find anyone else talking about this here or in the GH issues ... anyone else seeing this?

Thank you for your question about Warp's Agent Mode. I understand you're experiencing issues with truncated content when generating large files like JSON dashboards. This is indeed a known limitation in Warp, and you're not alone in experiencing this issue.

Based on the information from our knowledge sources, there are a couple of relevant points to consider:

  1. Output Truncation: Warp has a known issue with truncating long command outputs. This has been reported in several GitHub issues, including one specifically about long command output being trimmed. While this issue was marked as closed, it seems the problem may still persist in some cases, especially with very large outputs.

  2. Token Limits: Agent Mode operates within certain token limits. As mentioned in the Agent Mode documentation, there are two types of limits:

    • Message token limit: This relates to the size of individual queries and their context.
    • Monthly token limit: This is a cumulative limit on the total number of tokens used over a month.

Even on the Team plan, these limits still apply, although they are likely higher than on other plans.

  3. Context Truncation: In long conversations, Agent Mode may lose context from the beginning of the conversation due to token limitations, as noted in the Agent Mode documentation.

Given these limitations, here are a few suggestions:

  1. Try breaking down your requests into smaller, more manageable chunks. Instead of asking for an entire large JSON dashboard at once, you could request it in sections.
#
  1. Start new conversations frequently to avoid hitting context limits. You can do this manually using CMD-Y or BACKSPACE on macOS, or CTRL-Y or BACKSPACE on Windows/Linux.

  2. If the issue persists, it would be valuable to report this specific use case to Warp's support team or create a new GitHub issue. The Warp team is actively working on improvements to Agent Mode, especially regarding code generation and script writing.

If you continue to face issues, don't hesitate to reach out to Warp's support team for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific guidance or escalate the issue if it's indeed a bug that needs addressing.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
