The browser cant pass back to the app because the warp urls are being sent to the warp file transfer app, and not the terminal. They both use the name warp://

I understand your issue. It seems there's a conflict between the warp:// link scheme used by the Warp terminal and the Warp file transfer app (https://apps.gnome.org/Warp/). This issue has been reported (https://github.com/warpdotdev/Warp/issues/4265) and the Warp team is aware of it.
As a workaround, you can manually log in to Warp. If your browser does not open directly from Warp when you click "Sign up" or "Sign in", you can manually go to the Signup (https://app.warp.dev/signup) page to create an account or Login (https://app.warp.dev/login) page if you already have one, then copy the auth token from the "here" link on the logged_in page and paste it into Warp.
