Are all variants of cattle just found in their respective biomes, or do you have to breed them for things like the purple strolly polly?

It's possible to find some variants in the wild if they've had access to food long enough to produce offspring (ie: Dodos and Strolly Poly) but you mainly get them from breeding.

They do not at the moment for this patch, but I think there were mentions of adding the variants when they can get to it? @sturdy moat Would you happen to know?

Is it a bug that fully levelled puts can't be placed in the pet beds?

Do some variants take longer to grow up

I don’t think so. The timing depends on when they eat, so that could be the variable if they wandered too far from their food source.

they do spawn naturally right? ive found massive surpluses of differnt coloured cattle, say, in the stone biome right after i start the world...

Yes, they can appear in the wild in worlds generated after v1.1.2.

Is the rarest the bottom right of each cattle variant? Or the bottom two of each variant the rarest?

Yes, the color on the bottom right are rarer when it comes to breeding.

But I have heard finding them in the wild in a world generated in v1.1.2 is a lot easier.

It's kinda hard to tell

If the baby chick is too difficult to notice, then best advice I can give is to wait for them to grow up - you’ll be able to see the different color in the adult Dodo’s shading. (A bluish white as opposed to a gray)

On another note, whoever’s idea it was to put another white Dodo as a variant is to blame

I think the one I picked up was blue because it said "new item"

Yeah, that’s only helpful the first time you encounter one - since you won’t get New Item again unless you generate a new character everytime to check.

The outskirt cattle were easy to get when everythings water but finding meadows and oasis' this way is hard

Doing the hard challenge of breeding to get the variants. Two reasons: 1) most of my pre update world is explored and 2) I want an extra excuse to do something while fishing. So far I just need one more sheep (forgot name) variant to be completed with 1/6 cattle types XD

Will they breed random colors ? I have a few normal and colored ones for the bugs and they came out normal and I had a pink and gold sheep have a gold and black baby sheep !

Yeah pretty much. All cattle variants have the chance to create a different color, some are just rarer than others!
